Development of a Regional Preparation Programme for Maternity Support Workers The DHSSPS convened a Steering Group to Review Skill Mix in the Maternity Services. A copy of the final report can be downloaded by clicking here. NIPEC has taken forward work with the Health & Social Care Trusts and Beeches Management Centre to develop a regional programme for preparation of Maternity Support Workers. A steering group was established to take the work forward, chaired by Glynis Henry, Assistant Director of Nursing, Southern Health & Social Care Trust. Work has been completed on developing a generic Band 3 Job Description which is currently being job evaluated. The final meeting of the steering group was held on 5th February 2010. The final draft of the development programme for Maternity Support Workers was agreed subject to minor amendments. The final programme is available by clicking here, with the first programme will be delivered in September 2010 under the auspices of the Beeches Management Centre.
